WESTFIELD, Mass. ­– Westfield State first-year pitcher Sean McNamara (Lowell, Mass.) received conference honors this past week after being named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the first time this season.

McNamara allowed just two hits in 5.2 innings to get the win as the Owls defeated MCLA with a final score of 20-1. McNamara struck out seven, walked four and allowed only one run. McNamara currently has a record of 3-3 with an ERA of 4.80 and averaging 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings in his first season with the Owls.

The Owls have a record of 20-11 with a conference record of 8-5 and are currently in third place in the conference standings. They are back in action on Tuesday April, 23 with a doubleheader against MCLA in a conference matchup.
