WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State University senior second-baseman Casey Boudreau (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball team.

With the All-District honors, Boudreau advances to the national ballot for a chance at Academic All-America honors.

Boudreau hit .304 in the Owls abbreviated schedule this season.  CoSIDA members selected the teams based on both academic and athletic prowess, and the 2020 team was based off of each player's career performance to date, due to the coronavirus pandemic shortening seasons dramatically.

Boudreau has played in 57 games at Westfield State with a .335 career batting average and 11 doubles, scoring 33 runs and driving in 29.  He played in just 10 games due to injuries in 2018, then earned MASCAC All-Conference honors in 2019 while hitting .345.

An education major, Boudreau plans to take advantage of the opportunity to come back to Westfield in 2021 to complete his fourth year of eligibility as the NCAA has extended eligibility for spring sport athletes effected by the pandemic cancellations.

Boudreau is the second Owls' baseball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in the past three seasons.   2018 graduate Alex Lafayette earned all-district and Academic All-America honors.
