WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Westfield State baseball team grabbed all three of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly awards including the Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon.

Senior first basemen Aaron Clancy (Quincy, Mass.) was awarded the Player of the Week honors after his MVP performance in the MASCAC Tournament. He batted. 389 (7-18) with a double, three runs scored, five RBI and two walks as the Owls repeated as MASCAC Champions. Clancy went 7-for-10 with three runs scored and four RBI in the final three games of the tourney, including a pair of hits in the title game. He was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI in the 12-0 semifinal win over Framingham State and went 3-for-6 with two RBI in the 13-10 setback to Fitchburg State in the first title game. 

Senior left hander John Gegetskas (Windsor, Conn.) was named the MASCAC Pitcher of the Week after his no-hitter against Framingham State in the MASCAC semifinals. He struck out seven batters with no walks in the contest, facing the minimum amount of batters, with the lone runner reaching via an error in which he erased with a double play ball to the next hitter. It was the first no-hitter from a Westfield State pitcher since Joe Hevey blanked Mass. Maritime in 1988.

Freshman left-handed pitcher Alex Honey (Suffield, Conn.) snatched up the Rookie of the Week honors after his clutch performance in the MASCAC championship game. Honey threw five strong innings, allowing just four hits and one run, in the Owls' MASCAC title game 5-3 victory over Fitchburg State. 

The Owls will travel to Union, N.J. to take part in the Kean Regional of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Westfield will face the Empire 8 Conference champion Ithaca College Bombers on Friday with a start time to be announced later.
