Illinois Wesleyan Wallops Westfield, 14-3

AUBURNDALE, Fla. –  Illinois Wesleyan University erupted for six runs in the third inning en route to a 14-3 walloping of Westfield State University at the Russ Matt Baseball Tournament at Lake Myrtle Park on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans strung together six hits and were helped by a pair of Owls errors that extended the inning.

Dalton Fletcher and Evan Ranneklev each had three hits and two runs scored for IWU, which improves to 5-3 on the season.

For Westfield, Casey Boudreau, Anthony Crowley and Sean Moorhouse each had a pair of hits and a run batted in.

Jamie Butler started and took the loss for the Owls, while Jacob Houghton worked two scoreless innings of relief for the Spartans.

Westfield drops to 3-2 on the season.  The Owls will play a B Squad game tomorrow, before returning to varsity action on Thursday.
