Bud and Jim Hagan Field

The Westfield State University newly upgraded baseball and softball facilities. Summer 2017
Bud and Jim Hagan field.

Dedicated in 2013, Bud and Jim Hagan Field, the home field of the Westfield State Owls baseball program, has been fully renovated over the last few years to become one of the gems of New England baseball.  The field now includes a full scoreboard, expanded grandstand seating, a press box, spacious dugouts, renovated bullpens and an extra hitting tunnel. The field was named in honor of former Westfield State coach, athletic director and administrator Charles ‘Bud’ Hagan, who played in the Brooklyn Dodgers system before working at Westfield State, and his son Jim ‘84, president and CEO of Westfield Bank, a longtime trustee of Westfield State and friend of the Owls’ baseball program.

The grandstand seating has a capacity for 350 people along with temporary bleachers down the right field line for expanded seating during the post season. The press box was added in conjunction to the bleacher project of 2016, and provides a top of the line work environment for media and the sports information department to stat, live stream and announce games. Two permanent outdoor speakers add atmosphere for the fans and players.

Construction of a second batting cage, both turfed, along with new home and away bullpens provide ample practice facilities for player development in the spring and fall.
