Perhaps the most prolific golfer in the history of Westfield State College, Kevin Piecuch has gone on to a long and successful career as a golf professional, currently serving as the head golf professional at the Country Club of Greenfield (Mass.).

Piecuch was a two-time NCAA qualifier, competing at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships in 1988 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and again in in 1989 in Panora, Iowa.

He earned Academic All-America Honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America in 1989, and was a three-time Division III, District One first team choice in 1987, ‘88 and ’89.  Piecuch was a NEIGA All-New England Honorable mention pick in 1987.  He was a two-time team captain for the Owls’ golf team under legendary head coach John Kurty.

A 1989 graduate of Westfield State, Piecuch competed at a time in New England when golf programs were very strong, and the Owls frequently faced NCAA Division I and II programs, and regularly encountered several opponents went on to play as touring professionals.

He qualified for the ECAC golf championships for three straight years from 1987 through 1989.  He also played one year of varsity ice hockey for Westfield State.

Piecuch has been a fixture at CC of Greenfield since 1992, when he was hired by the late James “Bucky’’ O’Brien as an assistant. He earned Class A status with the PGA of America a year later and became head pro under O’Brien in 1996.

He holds the course record at Greenfield with a 61, and has won multiple Connecticut Section and Western Massachusetts Chapter PGA tournaments.  He has also been active as the past president of the Western Mass PGA chapter and a past board member for the PGA Connecticut section. 

He was the Guest of Honor at the Western Mass Golf Association Tee Party 2014, a 70-year old event that is the unofficial start to the local golf season.
He has volunteered as a golf teacher at both Greenfield High School and Smith Academy, and has coached youth ice hockey with Holy Name Hockey and the New England Junior Falcons programs.

A native of Wilbraham, Mass., who attended Springfield Cathedral High School, Piecuch earned seven varsity letters, four in golf and three in ice hockey. He was a two-time all-Western Mass golfer, a three time all –Valley league pick, and a two year captain.

As a junior, Piecuch enjoyed success at notable area tournaments such as the Springfield Newspapers Junior, the Ludlow Junior Four-Ball and the Youth Insurance.

Piecuch resides in East Longmeadow, Mass., with his wife Shannon, son Connor and daughter Tara.
