The Club Sports Program at Westfield State University is designed to serve interests in different sports and recreational activities, whether they are competitive, recreational, and/or instructional. Emphasis is placed on student leadership and involvement, as well as on the dedication and commitment of club members.
The philosophy of the Club Sports Program is to promote health and physical well being and physical skill development among all of its participants. It also aims to develop leadership and management skills and other professional qualities that will benefit the participant throughout his/her lifetime and to provide social and recreational opportunities for the entire Westfield State community.
Club sports are designed to serve individual interests, indifferent competitive sports and recreational activities. These interests can be competitive, recreational, or instructional in nature. Please note that club sport offerings may vary year-to-year based on student interest.

Men’s Ice Hockey
Women's Rugby - The Westfield State Womens Rugby Club is actively seeking members to join for our Fall and Spring seasons. We are a friendly, fun team that aims to promote sportsmanship and hard work through the game of rugby. No experience needed, we will teach you the game! Open to all athletic abilities, everyone and anyone is encouraged to join us! In-season practices are typically held in early evenings on week nights at Stanley Park on a moderate/low commitment basis and games on Saturday or Sunday. Equestrian
The Westfield State Equestrian Club is an IHSA hunt seat team, made up of members with a variety of riding experience. Together we all ride once a week at our home farm, Grindstone Mountain in Southampton MA. While riding disciplines often find themselves to be an independent sport, we work very hard to have a close and inclusive team! We travel to compete against local colleges (Mount Holyoke, Smith, and UMASS to list a few) during both the fall and spring semesters!
